Extra fleet to secure transport accessibility of Kaliningrad Region
MOSCOW, Jun 22 (PRIME) -- Additional fleet will be attracted to provide transport accessibility of the Kaliningrad Region after transit restrictions introduced by Lithuania, the Transport Ministry said in a statement on Wednesday.
“We decided to involve additional fleet to secure transport accessibility of the region. A universal dry-cargo ship of Northern Shipping Company will be delivered to the Bronka - Saint-Petersburg route from June 25. One more new train ferry will be delivered in September, whose sea trials are nearing completion,” the ministry said.
The carrying capacity of maritime traffic can be operatively increased by additional fleet depending on the real needs, the ministry said.
“The government of the Kaliningrad Region has organized operational staff, which coordinates delivery of goods to ensure transport accessibility of the region in relations to the unfriendly actions to restrict transit to the Kaliningrad Region,” the Transport Ministry said.
